Duck and bird hunting in Maine

Our Work

The Aroostook Sportsman Association provides a welcoming environment to learn and grow as a sportsman.

We offer outdoor enthusiasts a variety of resources and educational opportunities. Our annual Spring Sportsman's Show and Fall Gun Show are highly-anticipated events where our community can come together to learn, share stories, and educate themselves and others about the outdoors;

Our Youth Adventure Camp Program is designed to cultivate a deep appreciation and respect for nature in our youth and inspire them to become the next generation of wildlife conservationists. This program offers hands-on, outdoor experiences that teach conservation and sustainability practices while instilling a lifelong love for field sports;

We offer a Maine Guide School taught by legendary Master Maine Guides Carroll and Lila Ware. They will prepare you to confidently enter the state's testing and licensing process to obtain a Maine Guide's License.

We offer NRA-sanctioned courses for all levels of skill and more. Visit our Events or Educational Training page to find something that interests you or someone you know.

Hunters and anglers form the foundation of wildlife conservation, generating more funding for habitat and wildlife management than any other group. Join us today and help grow more Sportsmen and Sportswomen to carry on wildlife conservation work.

Maine Firearms Hunter's Safety Course:

Taking a hunter safety course is the first step to joining a community of conservationists! Hunters have a longstanding role as conservationists, helping keep wildlife populations at healthy levels and giving biologists valuable harvest data. Hunters also provide funding for wildlife management. Without hunters, it would not be possible to monitor and protect game in Maine.

Prepare to confidently enter the state’s testing and licensing process. A Maine Guide’s License is not easily obtained, so it must be understood that “the patch” should not be taken lightly. Throughout history, Maine Guides have been revered as some of North America’s most knowledgeable and proficient woodsmen. This tradition began in the late 1890s when the Maine legislature required all hunting guides to be registered with the state. It is a symbol with an honorable history.
